If not, sign-up today! At the beginning of each school year we ask each parent to join the PTA! There are many misconceptions about the PTA so hopefully this post will help clear a few things up.

I work full time and don't have time to be a member of the PTA

By joining the PTA you are not signing your life away, in fact, you don't have to even help at the school if you don't want to or don't have the time to. PTA is a great way to get involved in your childs educations but we also understand that jobs and family life may need to come first. You can pay your $5.00 dues and support your local PTA without being tied down to the school.

I have already joined at the JR High or High School, do I need to join here too?

Yes!! Each school has their own run PTA, therefore if you want to be a part and support Fox Hollows PTA you will need to join!

I am a member, but my spouse is not.

Sign them up! We welcome everyone to be a member of the PTA. Your membership helps up fund many of the activities that we do here at Fox Hollow!

I am not sure how to join

It is easy! Your child should have brought home an envelope on the first day of school. All you need to do is fill that out and return it with your $5.00 dues or $10 if your spouse joins. If you did not get an envelope, we have more available in the office.

Our membership drive runs through the 15th of September. By joining you are giving your childs class a chance to win an ICE CREAM PARTY!!! The class with the most membership on September 15th will win!

Did someone say BOGO?

You heard that right! The PTA will be kicking off the year with a Buy one Get one Free Bookfair! Our goal is to get books into the hands of children while assisting the teachers with their classroom libraries! Stop by the book fair and purchase a book for your child and then donate your free book to your childs classroom. The teachers will have books already picked out for you to choose from! This is a Win-Win for everyone! What greater gift can we give to our kids then the gift of reading!!

Volunteers Needed!!!

Volunteers are not paid -- not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless. ~

We are so excited and equally overwhelmed as we embark on this new adventure at Fox Hollow. It has been said that many hands make light work! I find this to be very true! It is with each of your hands that our burdens will be lightened and we will be able to make Fox Hollow the best school around!

Below you will find a list of positions that we are looking to fill on our PTA Board. If you are interested in helping our please contact me at canning_md@hotmail.com.

Red Ribbon Week Coordinator: RRW is towards the end of October. You would be responsible for planning and coordinating all activities for the week. You would have a committee that would help you out and you would work under the Safety Commissioner.

Red Ribbon Week Committee: You would help the Red Ribbon Coordinator plan and follow through with the activities for the week.

Teacher Appreciation: You would work on a committee to help show our teachers how much we appreciate them! (Pretty self explanatory :) ) This runs the first full week in May.

Book Fair: We will be running 3 different book fairs this year. We are looking for people who would be willing to help out in 2-4 hour shifts, and also those who could help set-up and take down the bookfairs.

Volunteer Coordinator: You would be responsible for tracking all of the hours that volunteers/parents give in the classroom and then sending that information to the state PTA. We would also ask that you coordinate room parents for each classroom. This room parent would help organize the classroom parties. This could be a 2 person job!

Room Parents: We are looking for one parent in each classroom to help plan and coordinate other volunteer to help with the Halloween/Valentines party.

Field Day committee: You would be helping plan and carry out the festivities of the day!

Reflections committee: We have a chair person but we are looking for talented individuals to help out with this HUGE job! We would need help with preparation as well as judging

Green Ribbon Week Coordinator: Same as Red Ribbon week but Green Ribbon week is held in September (I think)

Green Ribbon Week Committee: Same as Red Ribbon Week

Breakfast with Books: We would be looking for some parents to pass out donuts and juice and maybe do an activity with the kids while they are there. You would also be in charge of the publicity.

Fundraiser Chair: You would be in charge of coordinating the fundraiser, collecting money and dispersing prizes.

Art Program: More info to come (if funds are available)

School Choir: More info to come (if funds are available)

Jr Achievement : More info to come (if funds are available)

Classroom Volunteers: Volunteering in your childs class is a very important part of PTA! If none of the above committees seem to fit you, please remember that you are contributing to PTA by helping your childs teacher in their classroom!

Many of these areas could use several people! If you don't see something that interests you on this list, check back with us at back to school night. This is a smaller list and I am sure that it will grow as we get going! The PTA is a team effort and it will require many helping hands and willing parents to make it worK! Please remember that you do not have to volunteer your time to be a member of the PTA. Your $5.00 donation helps the PTA out a ton! Please make sure that you sign-up yourself, spouse, grandma, grandpa, aunts, uncles, family pet and anyone else you can think of! You membership is greatly appreciated!! I look forward to working with you this year!
